Victoria Coffee House

Named after Queen Victoria and built in 1887, this was one of six coffee houses in Leicester designed by Edward Burgess. Coffee houses were the brainchild of Thomas Cook who was a member of the temperance society. He wanted places where people could go without being obliged to drink alcohol.
