Life through the lens...

Leeds Best

Lunch at Leeds Brewery's newest pub, The Lamb and Flag, opened last July, and next door to Leeds Minster.
Good selection of their own beers, and MrC's favourite, " Leeds Best".
The collage shows the bar, the beer menu, the back of the pub with outside seating are, and balcony. Nice view of The Minster from here.
Much too cold to sit outside today. A very cold sneaky wind.
So we had a lovely warming spicy carrot soup.
I asked the young girl what was in it. She went to ask the chef who said the spices were, coriander, garam masala, cumin and cinnamon.
Definitely going to try this my self.It was delicious.

One of the reasons we went into Leeds was to see an exhibition of photographs by Ralph Wallis taken in the 1950's.
He began his career working as a press photographer for the Yorkshire Evening News, alongside childhood friend Peter O' Toole.
In the 60's he became Lecturer in Charge of Photography , at Leeds College of Art. He later immigrated to Canada where he worked as photographer for Vancouver Life, and Guide Magazine..
He has remained in Vancouver, and still wields a camera to this day.
Unfortunately we were very disappointed in the exhibition.
There were only a few exhibits along one corridor. They were all excellent, but we did expect more.

We then popped into the Leeds City Museum to see another exhibition entitled " The Changing Faces of Leeds".  Portraits of a city and it's people.
Again quite interesting. Don't make a special journey to Leeds to see it, but worth a look if you are in town.
If you haven't seen any of the other permanent exhibitions, it is well worth a visit. ( Not when the schools are on holiday though!)

We had a walk along the river. Lots of work going on for new flood defences.

We always enjoy a visit to Leeds. Each time something new to see.
Hope next time the weather will be a bit warmer, and we can have lunch sat outside!
