A mystery

A few days ago this bike appeared from nowhere, padlocked to the street lamp outside our neighbours' house. It is in good condition, far too smart to be abandoned, and enquiries locally have given no clues. Very strange!
It isn't the only happening in our quiet cul-de-sac. Today work started on replacing our gas main. Several huge holes have been dug so far, and the house has been alive to the rumbling of pneumatic drills. We will be without gas tomorrow and Thursday.
I wondered whether Coco the cat would be out there, watching the proceedings. She is usually so curious but I am thankful that she has stayed safely indoors today.
