It's a Journey....

Granite Graffiti

Around St Cloud, Minnesota are a number of closed Granite Quarries. According to St Cloud's website "The first granite quarry in Central Minnesota was opened in 1863 by two Scotsmen. In the 130 years to follow, Central Minnesota granite became an international commodity gracing buildings as far away as Singapore."  After closing in 1992 the quarries have reverted back to a more natural state and are now part of the County Park System which allows swimming, rock climbing, etc..  The graffiti is probably "not allowed" but you know it's going to happen! This is a small quarry.  Some are 116 feet deep with high rock formations.

We were in St Cloud today to see a Jackson Brown Tribute Show.  The wind was cold so we didn't explore any more of the quarries.  We met a group of friends in St Cloud and had a really good time at dinner and the show.
