Proper Job!
My sister arrived and after breakfast off we went to Boconnoc for the Cornwall Spring Flower Show ( click if you want to see the show!). I have done it in the sun, the rain, the wind and rain, and this year in the grey and cloudy, but with the gorgeous flowers on show it's guaranteed to be a pleasure whatever the weather! As well as the flowers there is an enormous number of dogs of every breed imaginable, which makes it even more enjoyable! They were all impeccably behaved and there wasn't a woof, growl or bark amongst or between any of them! Lots of "Ahhh's" from the people though, especially for the old and young black labradors!
There was the most amazing entry in the magnolia competitive class - 3 branches in 3 vases on 3 tiers of 3 different varieties - and they were the most enormous magnolia flowers I have ever seen! They came from Caerhays Castle which bred the very first x williamsii camellias and is today the home of a Plant Heritage National Collection of Magnolias containing over 600 species and named hybrids from around the world. The gardens have an international reputation and have been described as 'world class'. I had visited the castle on the Boswinger calstock group holiday last year, may go there this week with sister if the weather improves to see the magnolias in their natural setting! I got quite carried away with taking photographs of them but then chose the daffodils as my blip on my sisters insistence as they are quintessentially Cornish! There was a Pasty, Cream Tea and Saffron cake amongst all the daffs to name but a few Cornish delicacies!
We bought Auriculars, socks, metal tall poppy head sculptures, a wicker basket, a grass and a small bottle in a silver basket for my sister before going home to play with the newbies!
Blipping and commenting might be random this week with my sister staying - just saying!
