Lunchtime

There's been a lot of action at the osprey nest over the past few days.  The female from last year still hasn't arrived but there has been no shortage of females trying to take her place.  There has been one in particular who the people commenting on the live camera website think may be one of the chicks from last year.  Today she was in the nest and the male flew in with a fish but didn't give it to her but didn't shoo her away either.  There have also been other males trying to take over the nest but our resident male has defended his home nicely.  I spent about an hour and a half there this morning and managed to miss all of the action so I had to catch up  on the website.  I did get to see the mister dive in and come up with a fish but it all happened so fast that I didn't get a picture until he was flying back to the nest with it (see extra).  The main blip shows him enjoying his catch on one of his favorite eating perches across the pond from the nest.
