Belfast and the Easter Rising
A day trip to Belfast and a quick tour of the Ardoyne Falls Road area to look at the murals and here the stories of local people of how they lived through the troubles and how conflict is still there albeit more subdued. I remember the Hunger strikers and the death of Bobby Sands . Apparently this is now the most photographed mural. We went through the area as it prepared for the parade to commemorate the 100th year commemoration of the Easter rising . A significant day to be there and fascinating to see the places that were only names associated with violence and death during my childhood and adolescence.
