The Texas Ranger
This is a very common native bush found around here, used especially in landscaping. It only blooms after there has been a lot of rain or very high humidity for several days. And only during the monsoon season.
That might mean blooming only several times a year. The wind, no matter how gentle, blows these small flowers off the branches within a day or two after the bush has fully bloomed.
I took this picture early in the morning and already the ground below is covered in a blanket of purple flowers. They are one of my favorite sights in the summer. Stunningly beautiful plants.
