the Nelson Battalion had a colour charter parade today to present the Queen's colours to the City of Nelson. Nelson has had a Battalion since 1845. Three members were presented medals. The marched up Trafalgar Street to the bottom of the Church Steps where they paraded in front of dignitaries and the NZ Army Band played and 'beat the drum'. They marched back down Trafalgar Street to
the Council Building where the Militia challenged them and they presented the colours to the Mayor. It was well worth the trip into town on a rainy afternoon.
