Blossom

It was pretty grotty today.
I nearly didn't get out at all but I thought Lowther might offer some shelter and I went to get some wild garlic to make soup and on a vague hopeful (unsuccessful) liverwort hunt.
It was difficult to capture the blossom in the blustery wind and rain so not the best shot for my first entry of 2016 to BikerBear's Flower Friday but just as I had taken this I looked down from the bridge to the river below and saw a blue streak .... a kingfisher!! How exciting was that?! Good view of a dipper too.

Blossom - Kathleen Jamie

There’s this life and no hereafter –
         I’m sure of that
but still I dither, waiting
for my laggard soul
to leap at the world’s touch.

How many May dawns
         have I slept right through,
the trees courageous with blossom?
Let me number them . . .

I shall be weighed in the balance
                                  and found wanting.
I shall reckon for less
                                  than an apple pip.
