snap, snap...

...to the dragon

the snapdragon flower - which very mysteriously appeared in the backyard... like overnight - because i swear it wasn't there yesterday - or the day before! it simply sprouted up - in a very random way...

now here's this cute yellow blossom transporting me back to my childhood days - sitting at the window well where mom had a row of snapdragons planted... i'd pull the heads off and play with them - then deny to her i'd had anything to do with it... shame on me for the lie - and to my mother of all people! but as a child - you do what you have to for self-preservation... i'm certain she knew it was me anyway, fooling around in the flower bed - i just couldn't admit it at the time 'cuz i didn't wanna get in trouble... or be told to stay away from the flowers - they were so fascinating - these dragons you could snap when squeezed together - for a child, it was such fun! you need to be allowed to play - to experiment... so i'm grateful to mom for at least allowing me that one small joy with nature all those years ago... even though it ruined her tiny garden - it expanded her daughter's creativity - making for many...
