Given the disasters that have happened to so many housing developments around the country, I'm glad that I only ever worked on three large schemes, none of which ever got to fruition; 2 floundered on the incompetence of planning consultants, and the third on the incompetence of bankers (and the greed of developers)!

Anyway, none of this is to suggest that these were built of "ticky-tacky". The builder is the same guy who built our mansion(!), half of the south side of Drogheda, and has lived in every estate he's built - probably the best guarantee you'll ever get from a builder! Even now, you can still see him out for a walk on Sunday mornings casting a proprietorial gaze over his work.

And Pete Seger gets the nod for the soundtrack over the composer (her version is a link at the side) simply because that's the version I always remember Pops singing along to!
