Dolphins

Had a great day up here with Auntie Christine. We had a walk and did some light gardening this morning then went to visit my cousin, his wife and two delightful children who I haven't seen in years. Noah had great fun playing on the trampoline with Finlaggan, sending him flying into the air like Superman while Freya did jigsaws with Sutherland. It was lovely to catch up with them and will hopefully see them again for dinner tomorrow.

After our visit we went to Rosemarkie, there is a lovely beach where Noah had a great time investigating an assortment of sea creatures with his new fishing net, Freya spent her time drawing and Christine and I had a nice walk on the shore to burn off the ice lollies we treated ourselves too.

On the way home we stopped at Channory Point to see if we could spy any dolphins as it is a well known spot for dolphin watching. It was quite busy with a multitude of binoculars and massive lenses on display. We spent a wee while watching the narrow waters between the point and Fort George but nothing much was happening so eventually Noah & I began to follow Christine and Freya back to the car.

As we were walking we kept our eye on a point quite far out where one of the binocular men said he could see three, sure enough one jumped right out of the water and did a back flip so we waited a while longer to see what would happen. They were still quite far out and even when totally zoomed in I could barely make out the fins.

They began to swim towards where we were so I phoned Christine and Freya who were now waiting in the car for us and by the time they got back the dolphins were swimming just a few metres off the point giving a good show for the assembled watchers. It was lovely to see them up so close and was definitely my best bit of the day.
