The inside of round growths on tree

I took this round growth off my tree today and cut it in half. There is no juice. It is fuzzy, like a dandelion. You can see the brown seeds in the center. It is dry to touch, soft to feel like a bird under feather. The outside is mildly textured, like a lemon. Unlike the the lemon, there is a very soft, thin vail of aroma, neither sweet or pungent, only faintly like perfume. It is all the way up a 25-30' tall tree.
