Brave but tousled blackbird
We have a couple of blackbirds in our garden, and here you see the brave black (male) one, who fiercely defends it's territory (our garden) against intruders and rivals, including magpies and jays. But today he appreared with wildly tousled feathers all over, and even without tail feathers at all.
His damages seem to be caused by somthing bigger than another bird.
Taking in account that he's quite fanatic in his defence, and we have quite some cats in our neighbourhood, I expect he must have encountered one of them and even survived that battle :-)
He still seems in excellent condition though, and this afternoon he was chasing the magpies out again, as usual !
The female (brown) blackbird is still loyal to him, despite his jostled appearance, although a bit more shy for the camera.
