Donington Tunnel
I had many shots I could have uploaded today. We went on an adventure with our neighbours Frenchy and Gemma to find the abandoned tunnel that formed part of a railway line that got closed thanks to Beechings back in 1967.
I've always been fascinated by these tunnels but have never actually been to find them. When we moved to Withcall we went and found the old Withcall station but not the tunnel as it is closed off. However further up the old line is an open tunnel that crosses the B1225 Caistor High Street.
When I lived in Cambridge I used to sit at night plotting the route and trying to find where the tunnels were on google earth. I even bought an old map from the 1940's and laid it over a current map to plot exactly where it was. I never really got round to actually going though, but today we did.
So there we go. One thing off the bucket list.
