Up close and personal
With this being A's last proper day here, we were trying to squeeze the best out of the day for her. This morning the school took them all into Lavaur to see the historical highlights of the town... (a church and a well) and gave them time off for shopping too - which seems to have been the most popular pursuit for most of the visitors. After lunch, the girls had arranged to meet some friends back in Lavaur for more shopping - in the drizzle.
Later, off to the sheep farm to meet the lambs - who were certainly not shy at all. You can see the care given to all the creatures up there by their friendly attitude; all the sheep, lambs and cats were happy to see us and eager to be stroked. The sheep are still inside - it being a bit cold and wet outdoors for them just now since, as with all sheep, their primary goal in life is to find a puddle to die in - so the smell took a bit of getting used to. Though the sheep are a very different breed to the Scottish Blackface I'm used to from back home, the lambs are just the same - cheeky and trying to suckle on anything (the hem of the coat you're taking to Paris in a few days, for example...)
Rushing away sooner than we wanted to, off to riding with A's second lesson. All were impressed at her tenacity and skill - I think she found rising to the trot a little tricky, but then who wouldn't. She is, apparently, a born horsewoman.
Later, raclette for dinner, with all the trimmings, and a long discussion on music involving poor A having to listen to our choices of French music, and then - since she couldn't think of any - our choices of Spanish music too. She said the Gypsy Kings was the best we managed!
