Old library
I met up with my friend, Sarah, today for lunch in Petersfield plus a stroll and a little retail therapy. We hadn't managed to meet since last year so had lots of catching up to do. Our lunch venue was Ask and it's in a lovely old building that in the 18th century was one of Hampshire's first lending libraries. I thought the blue plaque highlighting this bit of local history was topical given the news this week about our country's ailing library service. I'm sure this sort of thing doesn't cause our millionaire Conservative politicians any sleepless nights but we lose these things at our peril.
Anyway, political frustration aside, we had a really good time and plenty of laughs, many at my expense. I'm hopeless without my specs these days and I'd left them at home, which resulted in difficulties ordering food and the completely unnecessary purchase of two packs of filter tips in the pound shop...
