Halo
Today I saw a halo around the sun. I tried to enthuse the people I walked past by pointing it out to them, but they were nonplussed.
Haloes like this are caused by small ice crystals hovering several miles above the ground, which act like prisms and mirrors, reflecting and refracting the Sun's light. It's really beautiful. Shame I only had my phone on me and not my DSLR!
In other news: I'm enjoying working at the Met Office. This week I've been on leave and enjoying not having much to do!
