Holiday Day 4
It's been a thoroughly British weather day today, mostly rainy with brief spells of sunshine. But not enough brief spells of sunshine for you to actually enjoy it.
After a lie-in and a delicious cooked breakfast (already getting distressed about holiday cooked breakfasts coming to an end next week) we set out to explore. We drove through Wells and got a good look at the beautiful Cathedral (we we intend to explore further tomorrow) and through Glastonbury to Street. Bit dull, if I'm honest, unless you have lots of money and a penchant for designer clothes. I looked at a lot of dresses but not a single grey one.
Then onto Glastonbury where we got high on incense and saw enough tie-die and beads to last a lifetime. There are only so many shops selling harem pants that you can look at and so we set off to climb the hill to the Tor. However, SS successfully predicted an incoming storm and so we legged it into a (vegan) coffee shop before the hail set in. Needless to say, we didn't see the Tor. I've concluded that hippies survive on incense and green tea, because there was not one farmers market or local grocery in sight. We managed to scavenge something to take home for dinner before escaping to our little holiday home for wine and games.
A missing dinner ingredient meant I had to run down into Wells during the only really lovely bit of the day. Burnt an equal amount of calories as the missing ingredient I'm about to consume.
Here's hoping for a bright and sunny day tomorrow. And less hemp.
