Day Six: Persecution

Today's theme for our Budapest visit was persecution. First we visited the amazing Terror Museum which commenorates and documents the oppression of Budapest by first the Nazis (actually the Hungarian Arrow Cross Party) and then by the Soviets. An extraordinary museum laid out in an inspired manner and completely moving (check out the inspired canopy around the roof which casts the word 'Terror' in shadows on the side of the building or, if the sun is high enough, on the pavement below).

The afternoon was a visit to the Dohany Street Synagogue which also had many parts commenorating the 600,000 Hungarian Jews killed in the war.
