Brantwood and back ...

Caught the local boat, from Coniston, over to Brantwood today - and spent several happy hours exploring the gardens and estate ...

... John Ruskin lived here from 1872 until he died in 1900, and the house remains open to visitors.

But we didn't explore the house today (have done so on several, previous trips); instead walked about every inch of the estate - the snap is from near the top of the gardens, looking over Coniston Water - before walking back round to Coniston itself.
