American Goldfinch

The male American Goldfinches are getting their breeding plumage! Much easier to tell them from their less colorful mates now.

I learned about a free download of an editing program called NIK from youoregon1 the other day, and immediately downloaded it. I did a bit of experimenting - fartnarkling - with it today, and this is one of the results. It helpfully adds itself to the Photoshop program of filters. Another shot is in the extras - a Carolina Wren on the little feeder that looks like a porch swing. It hangs out back where the Phoebes nest, in hopes that they might enjoy the dried mealworms. I know the wrens do, but I've never yet seen a Phoebe partake.
