These men were competing in the D W Canoe Marathon, 125 gruelling miles from Devizes to Westminster. At this point they had about twenty five miles left to paddle. The swan had to get out of the way rather smartly. The chap at the back, tired as he must have been, even managed a wry smile.

We have just watched the Boat Race, Oxford vs Cambridge. The conditions were far from ideal. Cambridge won the men's and Reserve's race, and the Oxford women won their race.
