Outside

First day back at work today and it was boiling hit and sunny outside. I had a morning cycle around the seawall on my own bike, brought back with us from the UK. I lost a few pounds (in bike weight) and beat my personal best time by 8 minutes! I was going so well that I didn't want to stop and take any photos although there was plenty to look at and I'm sure I saw mountains today which I've either never seen, or never noticed before.

At work we had our management meeting outside in the sunshine. I took this in a quiet moment, it's the view directly from the balcony. Because Vancouver is designed in a grid system there are loads of these back streets which carry all the electricity cables. The yard on the left is a doggy day care centre, and so the soundtrack to standing in the fresh air is often barking or yappy dogs. You can't see it in this image, but further to the right a big Canadian flag blows in the breeze sitting on top of a bank. I like the fact there are all these reminders that this is a different country. There are quite a lot of Canadian flags all over the place here, much more than you'd get Union Jacks at home.
