A Challenge For You

Happy Easter to you all from Blip Central.  We’ve been looking at all of the images from the BigBlipmeet events happening over the last week.  We’ve loved being able to read about the meets and in some cases say hi to new blip friends.  We’ll be doing a round up of the event next week.  Don’t forget it’s not too late to join in, you can check out the remaining events on the Blipmeets forum.
 
This week we wanted to acknowledge and say how grateful we are to the unsung heroes who host and organise the challenges on Blipfoto.  Whether they be the regular weekly challenges, or others such as the recent Mono Month and Dickens challenges that took place in February, they are a great way of getting inspiration for your journal’s images.  We can see that there are a dedicated band of members who take part, but we think there could be more so we wanted to highlight some of the weekly challenges so everyone has the opportunity to take part.
 
So starting at the beginning of the week we have Derelict Sunday.  This is currently hosted by Rainie and you can tag an entry anytime between Monday and the following Sunday for inclusion.  You can always use the tag DerelictSunday and this week’s unique identifier is DS23 or DerelictSunday23.  Rainie has let us know that from Monday 11th April, Serpentine is taking over the hosting.
 
Mono Monday is one of the most popular weekly challenges and as the name suggests it is for black and white images.  Trisahrooni is hosting it for the last time this coming week then DavidC is taking over.  There is a theme each week and Monday’s them is portrait (but not self-portrait).  The tag for this challenge is MonoMonday  and next week's tags are 'MonoMonday114' or 'MM114'.
 
Tiny Tuesday is for close up or macro images.  Lizellen  has been hosting this challenge during March and will be handing over to JDO in April. WWombat originally started the challenge and is quite happy for people to contact her if they want to know more. You’ll have got the hang of the tags by now, use TinyTuesday and this week’s number is 'TinyTuesday44'  or 'TT44'.
 
We’re not aware of any current challenge on Wednesday but please let us know if there is. 
 
On Thursday we go abstract.  This is hosted by youoregon1  and next week the tags are 'AT40'  'AbstractThursday40'.  To see the kind of images that have been entered use the tag, AbstractThursday.
 
We then have Flower Friday hosted by BikerBear.  Tags, (we know, you’ve already guessed) are FlowerFriday and our understanding is that the number to add is the date on that day.  That suggests that the tags for this Friday coming are 'FlowerFriday1' or 'FF1'.
 
Again our thanks to everyone involved in making sure these challenges take place.  Why not make the effort and take part?  We’re looking forward to seeing all of the entries.  We’ll also be posting this information onto the Challenges Forum in the help centre so there is an easy reference point for everyone. 
 
   Finally, don’t forget to take part in the membership questionnaire.  This really is very important to the future of Blipfoto and we want to hear from as many people as possible.  And we’re still accepting applications from people who want to join the Blipfuture board as our new Community Director.  You can read more about both of these items by following the links.   The deadline for completion of the survey and applications is Thursday 31st March.
