The Day The Paper Died

Today was the last day for the printed version of The Independent. I will miss it very much. In a sea of newspapers with an agenda it was a beacon of balanced, intelligent journalism. Also, it was a pioneer of using brilliant photography as an essential part of it's design. It has been an absorbing part of my commute home from work for many years and informed me about history, politics, the arts, business, economics and everything else in between. The world of newspapers will be  poorer without it's presence - I know it will still exist online but it won't be the same.
My brother also loved the paper so I took a quick shot of him holding it up, or trying to (!), in today's very windy conditions. Thanks so much The Independent for your intelligence, design and wit - I'll find it very strange without you!
