Bastille Day celebrations
Saturday
Our town is twinned with Neuilly Plaisance in France, and so the weekend closest to Bastille Day the town has a celebration - mainly a food festival with booths set up by neighborhood restaurants, live music on a couple of stages, and activities for kids. One of our neighboring communities, Blue Ash has The Taste of Blue Ash in September, but that has become quite a large event and immensely popular, so its really crowded, and you're fighting your way through the crowds and waiting in lines for food. Bastille Day celebrations however are much quieter and low key. However this year they were quieter than usual due to the weather, though the picture makes it look even quieter than it was! Normally we would have gone in the evening but Laura was going out with a friend then, and so wanted to go at lunchtime. It had rained, quite heavily at times, virtually all morning, however, around lunchtime it did actually stop for a while and it brightened up, so we decided to give it a try, taking along our umbrellas just in case! It did remain dry though, and we enjoyed some good food, before the rain returned in the afternoon. Other than that, a pretty quiet day - I should really have got out to the "Y" to swim or work out, but the will-power was rather lacking!
