Scottish Crannog Centre
A dull, wet day.
Since it was raining (for the first time on our holiday) we went through to Kenmore, which lies at the east end of Loch Tay. It is also where the River Tay emerges from the Loch, and wends its way to Dundee where we live. It is the longest river in Scotland at around 120 miles, although it has a couple of other names before it enters the west end of Loch Tay.
We visited the Crannog Centre on the south bank of the loch. This is a reconstruction of an Iron Age dwelling of around 2,500 years ago. It took three years to complete and is absolutely fascinating. I will put a link to the photos in one of next week's posts. In the meantime, here is a link to the Centre's Webpage.
The extra photo is of the Moness Burn, which passes through the Birks, in full spate after the heavy overnight rain.
