Stairs at the Cartier-Bresson Foundation
This afternoon we made our annual pilgrimage to the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson, established by him and his family just before his death in 2004. It's in a modest but lovely building built as a studio in 1912 and restructured to house the foundation. This is the landing for the third of five floors (counting in American fashion). The exhibition was on Ugo Mulas (1928-73), a major Italian photographer; he visited New York extensively in the 1960s, photographing many artists in their studios (among other subjects). It was fascinating; his website has many images, if you're curious.
We left just before 5 pm, but the sun was bright, casting long shadows (see the extra photo). Blips from our past two visits are here (2015) and here (2014).
