Homeward bound

After breakfast we gathered our things and checked out of the hotel.  We were met at 10:30am by our taxi to the airport.  Ivalo is small, only two flights out today so it was nice and quiet.  Our flight went via Kittila again before on to Helsinki.  I got a little worried when our flight was delayed as we only had 40 minutes between touch down and boarding our next flight.  Thankfully we gained some time on the journey (maybe thanks to the winds that caused horrible turbulence) allowing for a leisurely wander through the shops to our gate.  Technology beat me at passport control.  G had safely got through the automatic passport scanner whilst I was stuck on the other side with the machines refusing to work!  Thankfully there was someone on hand to help.

Sadly the turbulence hadn't died down any for our flight to London.  I tried to snooze but my legs were restless.  Once in to Heathrow we collected our bags and took the train to T5.  We arrived half an hour before bag drop opened so we had a coffee and watched the sun begin to set.  We've travelled through T5 a number of times now and we always enjoy a trip to Giraffe so that was our first stop.  Given we'd not eaten since breakfast and it was after 6pm, it was much needed.

The flight to Edinburgh was uneventful.  A quicj taxi journey home and a really needed night of sleep in our own bed!
