I'm rollin' over a four-leaved clover...
The gods of photographing bees smiled on me today. The sun, somewhat unaccountably, shone at lunchtime today so I rushed out to the grassland area next to the business park where my office is located, to see if I could find a bumblebee subject for my blip today. This lovely little bee (as far as I can determine from my bumblebee identification guide) is probably a female worker bee of the species Bombus lucorum, the white-tailed bumblebee. It is gathering nectar from a red clover flower. But, while I was happy to "collect" another species of bumblebee on my phone camera, what I like most about the photo is that, if you look closely at the bee, you can see my reflection in its compound eye as a sort of vertical line. Now that's cool!
