For some photographic artists, an important part of the value of a photograph is the paper, the print quality, the physical impact of a photograph printed in the size the photographer feels is appropriate and seen in person. Daido Moriyama says what matters to him most is making books of photographs; he's not interested in photographs matted, framed, and hung. Some photographers post digital images on the internet and don't ever print them.
