Marjorie's ramblings

The Humshaugh aubretia

Many of the garden walls in our village are adorned with aubretia. It starts flowering very early and provides a delightful display all summer. This is one to the early offerings on a south facing wall.

Mum's cough worsened yesterday evening and she had a lot of difficulty breathing. I gave her a large dose of steroids and that improved things overnight. At last those tight tubes are starting to open up.

I can't say that she is out of the woods yet, but she has just had the second slug of steroids and has had 5 doses of antibiotics, so things should start to improve.

I'm planning to go on my recce in the morning; Margret next door and Annette will both be on the end of a phone. I'll be walking where there is no signal, but only for 7.5 miles.

Other than being the provider of regular drinks and small, tasty meals, I've managed to do very little today. I walked to the shop to buy eggs and captured my blip. I also went to the surgery to pick up medication to find that some of it was still at Wark. Our surgery has a new system where prescriptions are dispensed at Wark, 6 miles away, and brought to Humshaugh by a doctor after his or her surgery. It's not working well. I put in a request on Monday afternoon and the tablets were still at Wark at 3pm today.  We love our surgery but sometimes new systems are not quite as good as the old. Going over to all appointments has caused a lot of confusion this month. I expect it will settle down.
