Red Russian..

..sorry I've not been around or a while. Nothing much to report.

A good geology field trip on Saturday, but a long and tiring day. Saw lots of interesting features from our wonderful landscape.

Sunday was a bit dull, so a lazy relaxing day. We've been granted planning permission for our building works, so most of the day was spent reading and thinking about the internal details, preparing for the building warrant. This must be exactly right..

Monday and Tuesday were dull, but not wet, and most of the days were spent sowing seeds and potting up seedlings. Also waiting for the clear plastic cover to arrive for the new tunnel. I did ask the suppliers if they wanted the White plastic cover back, they said I could keep it. So I will have a spare cover when the new one finally arrives.

Wednesday. Prompted by LSA, (I'm fine thanks, just lost the "take a pic a day" mojo until the weather brightens up again), I took this shot in the poly-tunnel this afternoon. I'd been down the croft (and beach) to harvest some parsnips, spring greens and purple sprouting broccoli (got some parsley too). After cleaning the parsnips, went into the tunnel, and saw these drops of water on a leaf of Red Russian kale. This is without doubt one of the best kales to grow, eaten young raw in salads (this leaf is destined to be consumed so), or steamed or boiled as a larger leaf.
