At 9.11 am European time the bomb exploded in a train near the Brussels Maelbeek metro station. I was picking up the breaking news via Twitter as I travelled on the Piccadilly line to head out to the National Archives. I took this picture at Earls Court at 8.33 GMT.

It was a beautiful, radiant morning in London.
