SIGNS

NAGOYA Free Wi-Fi

Went to Nagoya, the largest city in the central region of Japan, for the very first time. Before meeting up with one of my friends, I found this wifi sign at a station.

The theme of this sign is Nagoya Castle, which is, as the name suggests, located in the city of Nagoya. During the Edo period (1603-1868) the castle was the centre of one of the most significant castle towns in Japan. The castle is known to have two golden tiger-headed carps on either end of the topmost castle roof, which is realised in the sign too.
