Between fen and mountains

Corby Smash

I did my market and supermarket shopping early and then repaired a longcase clock before leaving for Corby.  After a lunch out, I went with friends to the new table tennis centre.  I had booked a 'sparring partner' who turned out to be Tony West ex Junior International and Vets British League Premier Champion.  He really put me through my paces and I could feel the rust of forty years flaking off.   We played for two hours and it was an excellent training session.  In the corner, you can just see the robot which will fires 100 or so balls at you with programmable speed and spin, a really good way to practise particular shots.  I believe there are very few such centres in the UK so I hope their new venture is a success.
