The Lutenist
Our lunchtime concert today was performed by Alex McCartney who performs widely, teaches and advises for period films and TV programmes, such as Wolf Hall, and, not content with this, enjoys making lutes himself.
His programme today was two pieces by Silvius Leopold Weiss (1687-1750), Suite in D Minor followed by Suite in F Major, played on the 13-course Baroque lute, which is the most recent style in the evolution of the instrument (close-up in extra photos).
