Making a splash

Making one of these splash shots has been on my 'to-do' list for a while, and tonight was the night. I tried to work it out without resorting to an online tutorial, which is probably why it took me forever to get anywhere.

I discovered that using continuous light was rubbish, so I had a go with a speedlite flash that Brother Rob lent to me and haven't used yet because I'm hopeless with flash. But I prevailed, and finally got something half usable. Result!
