Boiling the shrimps

The Solway has the largest brown shrimp (Crangon Crangon) fishery on the west coast of the UK and there are six boats in the Silloth shrimp boat fleet trawling for them. The shrimp are cooked on the boat then peeled by hand or machine once they are on shore. Many now go into secret potted shrimp recipes, they are blended with spices, potted and sealed with butter. At last this small sweet crustacean is getting the attention it deserves. You must try them when you're in Silloth or buy some to take home. They're addictive!
