Some of you will have seen this gateway before, but given celebrations of Shakespeare this year I thought it was worth exploring again. Do look at the link : the history of the man is fascinating. He appears in Shakespeare's Richard 2nd, having gone into exile with Henry Bolingbroke, he returned with Henry to arrest Richard and was present at Richards giving up the crown. He's still present in Henry 4th & 5th and was present at Agincourt.
This gateway to the Cathedral was built in 1423. Sir Thomas is buried in the Cathedral.
This all makes history and Shakespeare very alive to me. I hope to you too.
