Hinterland
Tonight 5 intrepid small ladies went on an adventure deep into the heartlands of Cardross to see the NVA presentation of Hinterland. This was a sound & light event centered in the old priest seminary which was built by the Catholic church about 50 years ago. To call the architercure brutalist is putting it mildly. Designed by Andy MacMillan and Isi Metzstein of the Glasgow based company Kidd & Coia. Referred to as a neo-monastic austerity with leaks, faulty heating which led the place to be like a fridge, it was finally abandoned by the Catholic church and left to go to wrack & ruin. As with any large concrete surface it attracted more than its fair share of graffiti, some of it rather interesting!
Anyhow we had a wonderfull & hilarious time. Of course photography inside the building was banned!! but being the rule breakers we are, we snuck in a few indoor shots though some prim & proper tree hugger went round those of us who were surreptitiously snapping saying we were spoiling her ambience !!! Reading the blurb later on I liked that the chap who did the trumpet solo was called Bede! rather appropriate I thought. We ended the evening on a high with chips & more hilarity on the way home like a bunch of naughty schoolgirls . Fun fun fun. A couple of extras below
