My post arrived
I have turned off my alarm clock for 6 whole weeks. Here is the first day without it!
I have decided to celebrate my holiday and revel in the benefits of being in education. I often feel I should apologise. After all I only work till 3:30pm and everyone knows a teacher's job is easy. Its the fault of teachers that children are not making progress, can't read, write, or even do maths.
I shall have to live with the knowledge that over the summer children will be losing what they have learned this year, because us teachers are sat in bed, having our post delivered by small dogs and rather enjoying the space to think of new things and ideas.
Strange that parents reading to their children over the summer holidays and encouraging them to write or taking them to interesting places and exploring new things with them, has such little effect.
Perhaps I should join the chorus of thoes wishing to shorten the summer holidays and not allow parents such quality time with their children. They are after all, so the experts say, not doing a good job.
We should allow children to return to us teachers, so we can do an unsatisfactory job in term time instead.
Funny then how parents and teachers are doing such a bad job with the future! maybe the experts should take over and do it all for us, so we can sit in our beds in the morning and have post brought to us by a family dog.
