American Kestrel - Sauvie Island
It was another beautiful day, even though they had predicted a bit of rain...sometimes they just are wrong!!! I headed out to Sauvie Island to Coon Point where the eagles were quite active. The high point of the day was this little American Kestrel the smallest of the North American falcons, who was hovering over the dike...and he even caught either a mouse or vole. They really can just hang in almost the same spot while they hunt for their prey!
More photos from the day can be found on my flickr page.
