Wonky church spire

We are walking the Devon Coast to Coast in stages with our walking group over the next 8 months. I missed stage 1 but will do that later. Today it was stage 2 from Yealmpton to Ivybridge, 9 miles and fairly easy. This is the 14th church spire at Ermington. It is wonky because unseasoned timbers were used. When it was restored in 1856 after lightening, the local councillors rejected the idea of straightening it. It was a rather grey day, dry but chilly.
