An Avid Lensman

Assam in the Afternoon!

OK, it was actually late morning, but it was a pot of Assam - more dignified than English Breakfast and if you're spending £2.20, you might as well go a bit more upmarket, for a change.

Upstairs at Salisbury's The Boston Tea Party, next to the Old George Mall, not far from the Cathedral is the place to go for a tearoom with a difference - it's an (very) old medieval banqueting hall, full of dark old wooden floors, panelling and these sets of original leaded windows.

It's nicely ramshackled and lived-in with a variety of solid hard bench tables, old comfy settees and fortunately gets a wide variety of clientele, from groups of teenagers, to chatting mothers, those out shopping as well as the more usual geeky types and the retired.

Not the cheapest place in town for a cuppa (that teapot looks bigger due to the fisheye lens but only holds enough to fill a mug) but for a change, especially on a cold dull DULL Saturday morning, the busy and buzzy BTP made for a wise choice for a tea-break.

I'm also currently in love with the Swedish duo 'First Aid Kit' album 'Stay Gold'. Shows how Sweden can certainly offer the world such sweet female voices, their sublime duetting on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKL4X0PZz7M and sounding more Nashville than any other out there - don't let this country sounding track put you off, there are many more gems on it. Amazon seems to be the cheapest for the CD. Watch your Googling though, or else you're going to get an awful lot of bandages and sticky plasters!
