Lights..Camera...NO ACTION!!!

Had myself a pretty busy day today, which has been unusual for me of late, but it felt good although ended in a little disappointment. Along at my dads early doors to wait around for the heating to get fixed. Wasn't too bad as the guy arrived earlier than expected. Score! Gave me time to head into town and pick up a photography book to help me better understand my camera. Something I'll be really focusing on when i go out for my contract next week. Back home to get a bit of laundry done and sort through what I will be taking with me to spend yet another 6 months away from home. Then it was back up to Princes Street to watch the Christmas lights getting turned on, and thats where the disappointment came in. It's not something I have ever been bothered with before, usually because i'm not in Edinburgh, but I went up with the family and all my nephews, who seem to enjoy it. Well, we stood around in the crowds, for what seemed a lot longer than it actually was, freezing our bollocks off, waiting for the show to start. I was expecting fireworks, and big bright explosive lights ready to blind me, but no. They stuck some lights on a few trees around Princes street Gardens, let of 2 fireworks...and that was it. I couldn't believe it. Waited around for over an hour and it's done in 10 seconds. Soon realised what the real scoop was, when, as soon as it was over, all the attractions started. Big wheel, Helter Skelter and whatever else is up there. My mum and sister just looked at me and proclaimed 'Bah Humbug'. Maybe they're right, but I just felt a little cheated! Back home now to watch a bit of football, Man City just won, and now its time for Portsmouth-Milan. Entourage on later, so its a night in front of the telly tonight.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends across the pond.
