Lights out
I think pretty much every blipper in Britain has added a blip about the Olympic Torch passing, and here's my entry - but let me explain.
We agreed to start out early to make it to Lyndhurst - unfortunately Steve and Kirsty preferred to stay in bed, so by the time we headed out we quickly realised that was unlikely to happen. So instead we decided to aim for Brockenhurst. We got there with a good half an hour to spare - unfortunately the rest of the world obviously got there with 35 minutes to spare because there was no parking anywhere.
After a quick hunt, we gave up and decided to continue to Lymington where fortunately there was still parking - there was also an hour to go before the Torch arrived. But we dutifully found our space, and parked out ready for the moment.
It was around about this point it started raining in a serious, straight forward, I don't care if you've got a water proof on and an umbrella I'm going to attempt to drown you anyway kind of way.
But we struggled on, and in its own way it lead to a certain camaraderie. The general consensus was it wouldn't be a proper British event if it didn't involve standing in the rain.
Finally the torch came into view, the shot was lined up, I paned with him perfectly to make sure I caught him as he went and it's then that the police officer stepped in the way completely blocking him from view. If you look carefully you'll see the torch over his shoulder, but apart from that he's completely blocked out.
But at least I've got an interesting story to tell?
