Dylan's Party

Betsy waiting her turn for sledging at the dry ski slope for her friends birthday party.

As well as sledging they do something called 'mini-ringo' which seems to be piling into a series of huge doughnuts which are linked together and then thrown down a massive dry ski slope. After that they split into teams and have a huge battle with water filled balloons and come home soaking wet. It sounds like brilliant fun.

The traffic was terrible getting there, and we were late - something that really bothers me, though I can't think why. When we were two minutes away I came to a fork in the road and slowed almost to a stop, as I couldn't remember which way to go. A woman in a huge car behind me hooted angrily. I stuck my hand out of the window and gave her a rude gesture, then I was worried that it was another one of the parents, also running late. Luckily it wasn't - it seems I am quite happy to be rude, just not to be caught out being rude.

Went to Bushey Park in the morning for a softball session. We throw and catch all the time but Betsy can't really practice batting in our garden. I'm not much if a pitcher though I realise, sadly.

It reminded us of one of the (many) great bits in Field of Dreams. When Shoeless Joe first appears to Ray, Shoeless asks Ray to pitch to him. Ray says, 'don't we need a catcher?'. Shoeless gives him a piercing look and says, 'not if you get it anywhere near the plate we don't.'

Well, I couldn't get it anywhere near the plate.
